We had a wonderful family vacation in Mt. Shasta City and we all loved the beautiful, immaculate and very comfortable vacation home. We had lots of fun fishing, hiking to the McCloud waterfalls and hiking around Castle Lake, hiking up on Mt. Shasta, and swimming at Lake Siskiyou. The boys loved the fishing decor, and the deer and chipmunks that approached the dining room window. The home is a very relaxing place from which to venture out on daily adventures.   --The Brennan Family, Salinas, California

We have loved staying here at your peaceful, comfortable home.  Thank you so much for sharing it with us.  The pure air, the scenery from each window, the "happy vibe" of your home will stay with us as we travel back to the Bay Area.  We love the magic of Mt. Shasta, Castle Lake, the McCloud Falls....it's all very special. And of course, the romantic sound of the train!  Oh -- and thanks for all of your great recommendations!  And Sophie (our yellow lab) loved watching the deer from the windows -- what a treat!  Thank you again for sharing your home with us.

Weather was fantastic – sunny everyday, nearly 70°!!  Hiked Mt. Shasta and visited Castle Lake with twin three-year old boys.  Granddad and Auntie Trish from Hampshire England made the stay unforgettable.

The House of Bass and Lilies was perfect for us all.  Thanks soooo much! -- The Brockways, Concord, CA

Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us.  We had a lovely white Christmas here.  The kids counted 31+/- fish in the house!  Kept them busy!   -- The Peterson Family, Santa Barbara, CA

What a lovely place you have!  It really takes an open heart to share and trust and we revere all in gratitude to enjoy all the comforts of home here in yours.  We love being visited by the deer, blue jays and lizards.  Thank you so much for adding warmth and beauty to the House of Bass and Lilies -- it really is lovely!  I know we'll be back!

Jeannette and Walt, Montana

Your home is more comfortable than a rental house! It feels like a second home for us.  We really enjoyed the Mount Shasta area with hiking, deer, etc.  Your house is beautiful and our girls loved it.  We will surely come back!

Stephan, Virginie, Kelly & Gabrilla, San Jose, CA

I really wanted to thank you both for making our stay quiet, cozy and welcome to everyone in the house.  We felt as if we were in our own home but in pure nature -- heaven!  The location was wonderful and always close to the hikes we went to.  The mornings started out cool and slightly warm which gave us a head start on many hikes.  We were lucky to see deer in the front yard and to see a large thunder and shower storm.  We rented a boat on Lake Siskiyou and enjoyed the beautiful waters.  Ou dogs loved your house better than ours.  They played and ran around your house for many hours everyday.  The views of the Eddys were great and had just received new patches of snow, on Mount Shasta as well.  Black Butte had a wonderful view from the backyard.  We could also locate the House of Bass and Lilies easily from the summit of Black Butte.  It was a pleasant stay!!  We hope we can stay again soon!

The Calhouns, San Francisco, CA

Thank you for letting us stay in the house.  My brother and I had so much fun in Lake Siskiyou.  We hiked a lot.  I was exhausted.  I like going to Burney Falls.  It was so much fun.  We saw a momma and a baby deer.  Thanks so much!

Alyssa, age 8, Long Beach, CA

Your cabin was great and we enjoyed the amenities, especially the many lazy chairs for reading and watching TV with style.  First time we did not have to negotiate who got to sit in them on the rainy day.  We hiked at Bunny Flats and had the time of our lives watching the dogs play in the snow with Mount Shasta towering majestically in the background.  What a beautiful corner of California!

Sabine Blaesi, Santa Cruz, CA

We walked in and loved the house!  We built a fire and set up the Christmas tree.  The presents surrounded the tree and the stockings were hung.  On the 24th, everyone was here and we enjoyed the day.  The sky was blue but the power went out a couple of times, briefly.  Dinner was almost done and the power went out again.... for at least 5 hours!  After about 1 1/2 hours, we decided to finish dinner on -- yes -- the wood-burning stove!  We played games on the kitchen table and we burned lots of candles.  When dinner was done -- yes, it cooked! -- we told stories for awhile and the lights came on!!  We were a little disappointed when the lights came on because we were having fun!  Now the 25th -- Merry Christmas!  Had a great time and again ate too much!

The Williams Family, San Francisco, CA

We arrived on Friday for what would be a fun-filled weekend.  The house was beautiful, relaxing and serene.  Absolutely had everything to make our stay very pleasant and comfortable (a must-do again!).  Saturday, we hit the slopes at Shasta Ski Resort and fun!  Buck and Harvey, who were first-time snowboarders, had a great experience!  They are ready to buy their own gear!  Like always, my brother had to be dragged away because 9pm was not enough!  The Bunny Hill was enough for me because 6 months (in oven) of baby did not permit anymore.  Well, Lela and Steve, thank you for sharing your lovely home with us this winter.  Hope to do it again!

Linda, Javier, Tomas y Jorge, Soledad, CA

Thank you oh so MUCH for opening your home up to us!  Your home is so warm and welcoming!  We felt so at home and it was a nice surprise that the home was fully stocked with everything we could have needed!

Thomas and Racheal, Lakeport, CA

This home was amazingly beautiful!  When we arrived at the house the front and the back yards were completely covered with snow.  As we entered through the front door we were shocked at how clean and comfortable this house was.  The living room was cozy and inviting, the kitchen completely stocked with appliances, dishes, condiments and spices!

We had friends join us for dinner on Valentine's Day and the dining room was perfect for a romantic dinner for 6!

The beds were cozy and we slept great!  The bathrooms were fully stocked with large hotel-sized towels.  The washer and dryer allowed us to return home with no dirty laundry!

The snow that covered the yard was perfect for the kids to sled down and build snowmen.  It entertained them for hours on end!

The best part of this home were all the added details of Bass and Lilies.  Not overdone, in any way.  To be honest, we giggled every time we noticed the detail of the home.  The Bass salt and pepper shakers to the ceiling fan pulls strings!  The home was beautiful and we hope to return again soon!

The Harmon Family, Lakeport, CA

Thank you for sharing your lovely cozy House of Bass and Lilies with us!  We had a wonderful time and slept so well in those warm beds!  Weather was just gorgeous!

Patterson and Rogers Families, Lucerne, CA

Once again, four old guys ventured north to your lovely abode.  The surroundings and amenities are as good as it gets.  Thank you for allowing us to share your lovely retreat.  Rod Sims, the golf pro at Mount Shasta Resort was again a very gracious and accommodating person.  We attended a fundraiser at Lalo's Mexican Restaurant.  It was great.  We brought our master chef, Bill Holliwell, with us and he regaled us with Humboldt squid, bacon-wrapped dove, BBQ'd duck, deer raviolis, homemade pepperoni that were to die for!  Lake Siskiyou afforded us the opportunity to catch limits of magnificient 1-2 pound trout.  It doesn't get any better than this!  We will be back!

Rich Gonzales, Lincoln; Craig Piro, Petaluma; Bill Holliwell, San Mateo; and Jim Mason, Cotati

Your home was comfortable and easy to get in and out of for all the areas we wanted to check out.  Now I'm pooped from all the hiking!

The Abbotts, Sebastopol, CA

Thank you so much for opening your home to us.  We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed all the amenities that you so thoughtfully provided.  We had wonderful weather, swam in rivers and lakes, hiked, and attended a family reunion.  We had an amazing time and would love to stay at the House of Bass and Lilies in the future.

The Piech Family, Albany, CA

Our second stay with family and friends!  We enjoyed the unique house again for the second time and we love this house even MORE!  It’s comforting, welcoming, beautiful and one of a kind.  We hiked all over the mountains with sooooo much snow.  We are looking forward to coming back up soon and hopefully sometime before next summer.  Your home felt like a REAL HOME for me because I dearly love Shasta and the house and would never leave.  I hope the next people who stay here had as much fun as we did and I have to thank Lela and Steve for the greatest rental in Mount Shasta overall without a doubt.  You two bought a wonderful home and turned it into a beautiful rental home.

- Quinn, Jenny, Mac, Freddie, Gary, San Francisco, CA

The House of Bass and Lilies has been a great base for a fantastic family holiday.  We’ve relaxed and hiked, created rafts from driftwood in Lake Siskiyou, explored the beautiful countryside from Bunny Flats up Mount Shasta, the McCloud Falls, Squaw Valley Creek, Castle Lake.  We’ve enjoyed the heat, views and walks – great directions in the pack you sent us Lela and Steve!  It’s been great also being near enough to the I5 to jump back to enjoy friends and faith at Bethel Church in Redding.

Bendith Dun arnoch chi a’ch cartref chi (a blessing in Welsh, our first language).  May God bless you and your home (translation).
The Luff Family (Wales, UK)

We came up to Mount Shasta for an annual family reunion and were so excited to discover this great vacation home.  With a brand new baby, the accommodations couldn’t have been more comfortable.  Our older boys have had a great time exploring the area and the weather has been perfect.  WE are hopeful that we’ll be able to stay here again.  Thank you!!  Peter and Ruth, Luke, (5), Sam (3 ½) & Nate (6 weeks), Rocklin, CA

We came to Mount Shasta for my brother’s wedding and the House of Bass and Lilies was the perfect home away from home for our family.   Thank you for providing such a wonderful, warm and welcoming place for travelers to stay.

Shalom, Nathan, Greg, Candy and Bill, Alexandria, VA

Thank you so much for accommodating our family’s temporary housing needs while our home was under reconstruction from damage done during the January 2010 massive snowstorm.   The comfort and convenience of the House of Bass and Lilies made our very challenging situation easier to get through.  Until you go through a disaster you never know hot it affects your whole life.  We are so grateful to have had a place to call home during these last five months.
Rich, Patti, Kendyl and Taylor Mount Shasta, CA

I am simply writing to tell you we had a great weekend! The house and views are beautiful! Beds very comfortable and the woodstove, for me, was fun to use.  Oh and the little hill the house sits on is a perfect sledding hill -- even my mother did it! We are already talking about a sequel next year! Thank you again!
The Woodard Family, Chico, CA

Once again the four old guys from the Bay area enjoyed the beautiful Bass and Lilies chalet.  We golfed, we fished, we ate and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  The food that Bill prepared was awesome.  We didn’t put anything hot on the dining room table so our footprints are nil.  Jim lost his iPad seventeen times but, oh well.  Thank you again for the beautiful setting.  See you next year.
Craig, Jim, Bill and Rich, Petaluma, CA

Five of us arrived from different parts of the world to stay at the House of Bass and Lilies.  Greg from Brazil, Joyce and Margaret from Australia, Emma from England and Marguerite from Canada.  The deer came by a few times to make us welcome.  It was great having all the facilities here and we cooked some amazing food.  The weather opened up to reveal Mount Shasta.  It was all a wonderful family event.  Thank you for providing such a lovely home of our use.
Joyce, Australia
